Meet and discuss with Dr. Anuradha Lohia on Scientific opportunities and funding in India

Dr. Anuradha Lohia, the CEO of Welcome-DBT India Alliance and a
professor at the Bose Institute, Kolkata, will be at UCSF on the 9th
June to talk about the growing opportunities in pursuing a scientific
career in India, especially with regards to funding.

Title: Empowering scientists to succeed in India.

  1. There is no point in painting rosy picture abroad and fooling young researcher abroad. True funding has increased but not the distribution. The oldies, who are not doing anything grabbing most it by sitting in committees. These oldies will give you money if you wish to put their names in publication, preferably as corresponding authors. DBT still accept proposal in 30 hard copies, which often get lost. They do not want e-copies as they can be tracked. Further, DBT will ask you put additional manpower of technician or JRF so that they work in DBT office or as maid or driver in their home. DST will not fund you more than 25-30 lakhs if you are young. They will to small time universities, where they will get 30% commission. Further if you get grant sanctioned then money will come for two years but DST will ask for utilization certificates. Funny India Science.....never return if you want to do science. If you want do politics then do return.
