2nd Annual YIM Boston, Oct 8-10, 2010

As a recent emerging trend, YIM's have
become a desirable concept in the USA
and India, interfacing leading Indian
Institutes and young Indian scientists
from across the world. The YIM Boston
2009, a pilot event organized last year attracted
over 200 applicants of which 43 outstanding
candidates were chosen to attend a two day closed
session. A year later, statistics confirm that the
experiment worked. Several YIM Boston 2009 short listed
candidates have either already relocated to India or
are in process of the same.

Notably, our one-if-its kind two-day format accommodates
and enhances the opportunity for representatives from
various institutes to meet with potential candidates,
start collaborations and initiate recruitment procedures.
We also host an open day session to accommodate
candidates who did not get selected and to also serve as
an informative session to others who are considering
options of pursuing an academic career in India.

The YIM- Boston chapter’s vision is to emerge as an
entity that provides a platform to young, qualified
researchers worldwide about growth and opportunities
in the biosciences field in India.

When: Oct 8-10th
Venue: Monadnock Rm at Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT,
Boston, United States

Program Schedule: Details to follow

Oct 8th : Open session (open to all)

Oct 9- 10th : Closed session ( 30 selected candidates
will be invited to present their research and vision
with an opportunity to have 'one-on-one' interactions
with our distinguished panelists )

Eligibility: Applications to the meeting are open to
outstanding postdoctoral fellows, scientists/principal
investigators and senior graduate students of any
nationality from the broad areas of engineering,
basic and clinical sciences.
Instructions: Applicants are required to submit
their detailed CV along with a one-page description on
research and vision statements to
Please include your "broad subject of specialization"
in the subject line and on the top of the proposal.
• Travel grants may be awarded to selected candidates
• There is no application/registration fee
Deadline: August 22nd, 2010

Workshop at the Biophysics Soc. Meeting, Feb 2010 in San Francisco

Will you be at the Biophysical Society Meeting next week? If so, check out this workshop...

"Biosciences in India: Directions, Challenges and Opportunities"

Date: 1-3pm, Tuesday 23rd Feb., 2010.

Biophysical Society Annual Meeting,
Moscone Convention Center (Room R124)
747 Howard Street,
San Francisco, California, 94103.

Bioscience research in India is growing at an unprecedented rate. This workshop highlights several opportunities created as a result of increased funding from the Indian government and International funding agencies, formation of new research institutes across the country, and attractive initiatives for new investigators and young scientists. The event will focus on questions encountered by postdocs from US and Europe looking at India for academic faculty positions. The workshop will also highlight opportunities for collaborative research with/in India, and should be helpful to established scientists interested in working with Indian laboratories. This is a unique opportunity to meet with young and dynamic scientists who are involved in building new scientific institutes.

The 2-hour event includes presentations by Indian scientists and an interactive question session. The event is open to all nationalities and to anyone interested in exploring collaborations and careers in India.
